ABSTRACT |
A system for prediction of boundary-layer transition is developed which consists of the Navier-Stokes code, two kinds of codes based on the linear parabolized stability equations (PSE), and the eN-method code. The prediction system is formulated in generalized curvilinear coordinates, which makes the system applicable to practical configurations. The system is used to predict the transition of the boundary layer of an infinite swept cylinder placed in a supersonic flow. The results obtained validate the system and clarify the effect of the nonparallelism of the boundary layer on an oblique TS wave. Furthermore, the characteristics of the PSE codes such as transients and oscillations are found through the analysis of a crossflow disturbance. |
