ABSTRACT |
The flight trials of the ALFLEX (Automatic Landing Flight Experiment) vehicle were successfully concluded on August 15, 1996, at Woomera Airfield in South Australia. The flight trials were held in winter under especially bad weather conditions such as cross winds and tail winds for the ALFLEX vehicle approaching runway 18. Therefore, wind measurement was extremely important. This paper describes the technique of making flight GO-NOGO decisions according to wind restrictions for ALrement results with the wind speed estimated using ADS and IMU sensors that were onboard the ALFLEX vehicle. |
