ABSTRACT |
The thrust of a 14-cm xenon ion thruster was durectly measured.the ion thruster was set on a pendulum,and the displacement of the pendulum depended on the thrust.The displacement was measured using a laser displacement meter.Estimated error in the thrust measurement was about 1%.The measured thrust was compared with the calculated thrust derived from the ideal thrust with compensation of doubly charged ions and ion-beam divergence.It was found that the calculated thrust was about 103% of the measured thrust. |
