ABSTRACT |
This paper presents a new method using a Monte Carlo simulation to estimate a life distribution of fatigue crack propagation ousing of a hydraulic actuator,which was used for a main landing gear in transport aircraft.A conventional regression analysis provides a set of two deterministic-parameter estimates,a life estimate of fatigue crack propagation,and the statistical properties of striation spacing.Stochastic-process models of crack growth and practical probabilistic methods including the proposed method are used to estimate the life distributions of fatigue crack propagation on the basis of the results of the regression analysis.The obtained results are discussed and compared.The proposed method approximates the fatigue life of the rod end housing as the B-allowable life when the initial crack length is assumed to be 0 mm. |
