ABSTRACT |
on unit having three optical transmitters/receivers,an 8:8 star coupler,a pressurized bulkhead optical connector,and three sets of fiber optic cables.A single fiber optic cable is utilized as the data transmission medium,and employs a newly developed electrically passive/transmitting 8:8 star coupler and a pressurized bulkhead optical connector for optical coupling.New serial bus control and message handling techniques were also developed for the data bus.In addition,an electrical transmission line is provided to back up the optical fiber transmission line;thereby providing the necessary system reliablity for testing the FBL control system.Performance evaluations of the optical fiber data bus were conducted by testing the optical transmission units,and by conducting environmental,laboratory,and flight test,with results verifying suitable adaptability to the FBL control system. |
