    초록(영문)

    Magnetostriction is the deformation of a body in response to a change in its magnetization. The magnetostrictive actuator with 1D magnetic field is based on the Joule effect while one with 2D magnetic field is based on simultaneous application of Joule and Wiedemann effects. The magnetostrictive inkjet printhead (MagJet) is a typical example of the magnetostrictive actuator with 1D magnetic field. Ejection feasibility of high viscosity fluid is estimated mathematically first, and then evaluated experimentally by using the developed MagJet. The mathematical estimation tells that the droplets are not likely to be made due the inverse of Ohnesorge number less than one. The experimental results, however, show that the MagJet ejects the high viscosity fluid up to 1000cP at room temperature. The magnetostrictive motor (MagMotor) is a typical example of the magnetostrictive actuator with 2D magnetic field. The experimental results show that the MagMotor rotates successfully up to 60 rpm, and that the MagMotor rotates about an arbitrary axis.
