Active Structures and Dynamics Laboratory is currently hiring graduate and undergraduate research assistants for research projects in structural health monitoring, energy harvesting, and experimental and theoretical vibration and nosie analysis and control.
The Active Structures and Dynamics Laboratory (ASDL) focuses on the use and development of active structures and systems for vibration analysis and testing, structural health monitoring, energy harvesting, sensors/actuators, acoustics, self-repairing structural systems, and mechatronics, which could be applied to a wide variety of engineering systems.
Active structures, active material systems, and smart structures refer to the integrated use of actuators, sensors, and control/data processing capabilities for improved performance of engineering structures/systems. We focus on the theoretical, numerical, and experimental research associated with active material systems. Our current research projects include.
- Active-sensing structural health monitoring of composite structures
- Fluid and structure interaction of pipes
- Energy harvesting using advance materials
- Vibration testing and analysis of structures
- Noise and vibration reduction of electronics
- Impact and load identification
- Advanced signal processing for structural dynamics applications
ASDL participates in the activities of the Engineering Institute - Korea, an international research and education collaboration between the Engineering Institute of Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA, and Chonbuk National University, Korea
