    초록 As an FPSO is installed and operated at a specified site for its lifetime without dry-docking, main structures should possess fatigue-endurance enough to guarantee that there will be no stop in oil production. Fatigue strength is closely related to the levels of local stresses adjacent to hotspots. To lower the stress level, interferences between structures should be controlled throughout the design process. Various appurtenances are attached on the main deck of FPSO, e.g., module supports, pipe supports, deck penetrations, mooring foundations and so forth . While the major items are arranged at the early design stage and remain unchanged, locations of minor items are often changed with the progress of design. Therefore, the clash between items is inevitable if the locations are determined without any criterion. in this paper the local stress rise around major supporting stools is investigated which is resulted from the presence of minor appurtenances. With load-component based approach the effect on fatigue strength from the stress rise is quantified and a simple guideline to be used in locating minor items is derived.
