    초록 The performance of the mechanical brake system for the railway rolling stocks is affected by an adhesion force which depends on the slip velocity. During slipping, the coefficient of the adhesion force changes in accordance with the condition of the rail. In addition, the value of the dry condition is larger than that of the wet condition on the rail surface. Through the relation between the adhesion force and slip velocity, it can be found that the best brake performance guaranteed when the maximum the adhesion force is used. However, the adhesion force is hard to analyze and measure in real time. Therefore, the estimated adhesion force using the disturbance observer represents and the robust anti-slip brake control system which can use the maximum adhesion force is proposed. In order to find the condition of the maximum adhesion force, the reference slip generator is presented using the estimated adhesion force. The performance of the designed control system is evaluated by computer simulation.
