ABSTRACT |
ESDU 73014 gives a method of estimating the r.m.s. stress at three points in the skin of a rectangular plate between flexible stringers (that may be of a different material) in a flat skin-stringer panel. The points are at the plate centre and in the middle of both the short and long sides. The method also gives the stress in the stringer. To ease the use of the method, graphs are given of two parameters required in a simple estimation equation. Predictions are compared with results of tests from a number of sources for both built-up and integrally-machined panels. A Fortran program is also provided on disc (uncompiled) in the software volume as ESDUpac A7314 that estimates the fundamental natural frequency of the panels and the r.m.s. stresses. |
